Worldwide, more than 84 million people were displaced in 2021. Contrary to public perception, around half of them are women and girls.

Due to sexual violence, children traveling with them, pregnancy and menstruation, they have different refugee experiences and needs than men. But so far, there are hardly any aid programs specifically for women.
