A Goal for Freedom - Women's Football in Kabul
45' (GER, ENG subs)
Between fear and terror - between courage and hope: the female football players of Kabul.
Living in one of the most dangerous cities in the world, they are an example of the struggle for a little more self-determination of an entire generation of young women in traditional patriarchal Afghanistan.
The documentary accompanies Madina Azizi, a football coach and former member of the Afghan national football team and her girls in their everyday life as footballers in Kabul, fighting a daily fight against discrimination and hostility.
"I'm trying to bring more sports culture into my country so girls can do sports, too. If I don't do it, who will?" Madina says. She is loved and hosted for it, because football for girls is still a taboo for many Afghan families. Through Medina's eyes we get to know the Kabul of Afghan women.
