WHAT WENT WRONG returns for season 2 with more devastating events that have changed the lives of thousands of people forever. The central theme of all stories: Each of these events could have been prevented. All the disasters we re-visit are due to human failure, often in combination with technical errors. The fatal technical errors are reconstructed and clarified with the help of animations and objective interviews. Eyewitness accounts and stories of survivors provide emotional insights and allow us to understand the dimensions of what has happened.

  1. The Ramstein Tragedy

    The story of one of the worst air show disasters of all time, when a mid-air collision by the Italian air force’s display team sent burning planes into a massive crowd gathered to watch an air show at the U.S. air base in Ramstein Germany. 70 people died and hundreds were injured.

  6. The Explosion Disaster in Beirut

    A massive blast and the devastating shock wave that followed left more than 200 dead, 600 wounded and 300,000 without homes on August 4, 2020 after a warehouse of ammonium nitrate exploded in the port of Beirut, Lebanon. The shock wave from the massive blast destroyed large swaths of the oldest parts of the city and  sank16 ships.
