New research reveals just how far-reaching the system was, benifiting not only merchants and plantation owners, but also banks, manufacturers and investors across Europe. Tracing the flow of money from Ghana and the Caribbean to Liverpool, Nantes and Berlin, the film uncovers how the wealth derived from slavery continues to shape companies and institutions whose origins are often forgotten today. Historians, descendants of enslaved people, and descendants of those who profited from slavery are now confronting questions of responsibility, remembrance and justice.
