This is a unique portrayal of artist Andreas Gursky and one of his most popular works, Hamm Bergwerk Ost.

It follows the image’s journey – from conception, to construction, to contraction and to reaction – until it found its home in a worthy collection, which holds many of its “siblings”: the private collection of one of the wealthiest men in the Ukraine, Victor Pinchuk. Pinchuk later revealed his personal connection to the piece.
