TOKYO 2020 – Preparing for the Future

2019
52' (ENG, GER, FRE), 45' (GER)

Preparing Tokyo to host the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics means preparing the city to cope with its aging population.

Japan has the highest life expectancy of any nation in the world, and demographic trends are developing faster than in any other country. In a critical phase of urban planning, the Tokyo Paralympics offer a unique opportunity to learn from the needs of physically challenged people - and to stay ahead when it comes to adapting to the needs of an increasingly older and physically weak population. Our film accompanies Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, as she prepares her city for the radical changes in society that will also have a major impact on European societies.
