Hidden Gems and Breaking Scoops

With breaking new topics and impressions of hidden beauties of the world, Autentic Distribution will travel to MIPDOC and MIPTV 2018 with more than 50 hours of new programs in the luggage.

Current Affairs - From maritime destruction to a country’s reconstruction

It’s a messed-up world in which a symbol for sustainable farming becomes a leap-hole for corruption and animal abuse. In our latest documentary Fish Fraud – The Ecolabel MSC (52’) we take a look at what’s behind the symbolic blue fish of Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) which adorns the packages of more than half the fish products sold around the world. An ecological insignia that should be a guaranteed seal of approval for ecological preservation is now met with scepticism and suspicion. While some are destroying the earths treasures, others are saving them: 18 brave men who literally carry death within their bare hands to save what’s left of their homeland Libya. Former soldiers and helpful volunteers, some are bomb savvy while others are bomb novices. Together they hunt for the improvised explosive devices (IED) that were left behind by the IS terrorists. Without metal detectors, protective gears nor fear for their lives, these family men disarm the boobytraps hidden among the ruins of Libya in Death in Hands (45’).

History - Two Great Women in European History

She was cunning and smart. Fair and illusive. Josephine de Beauharnais was as ruthless and as controversial as the Emperor himself. She survived the death sentence of insurgency and an assassination attempt on her husband, Napoleon Bonaparte. The Emperor’s Darling - Joséphine de Beauharnais (52’) tells the untold story of stealthy French Empress. Through a narrative account of her biography, the film presents a comprehensive yet historically contextualized understanding of the life of the illusive French Empress, whose name rang out on the lips of the Emperor as he spoke his last words, “France, the Army, the Head of the Army, Joséphine”.

One Empress defied death while the other fell victim to it. Sisi: Assassination of an Empress (45’) highlights the circumstances surrounding the death of the Austrian Empress Elizabeth, including the indiscretion which revealed her location to the anarchist Lucheni. For the first time ever, we delve into not only the life of the Empress but also the anarchist, to give an even portrayal of both victim and perpetrator.

Hidden Gems --- Beauties of the Earth

Explore the beauties of the Earth – Uniformity and Contrasts.
It is a trip that discovers the beauty of The Black Sea Coast (5 x 52’) and takes stock of the values, challenges and hopes that shape the lives of the people from this largely unknown corner of the earth. Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania, and Bulgaria couldn’t be more different from each other. A region with historical settlements, that stretch back to over 3,000 years, characterized by contrasts which emerged from tumultuous histories, old traditions and a euphoric atmosphere.

River deltas: impressive landscapes in a constant state of flux with unique biodiversity.
Their sensitive ecosystems make them vulnerable to the ecological footprint left by humankind. Some of them have already been irreversibly changed and other will change eventually. Each of the five films features a different continent, documents the flora and fauna in a river delta and discusses the role of mankind in the preservation of nature. Deltas of the World (5 x 52’) show the fascinating diversity of the deltas on our planet, from the arctic to the tropics, on the border between land and sea.

We continue to discover the marvels of the Earth with 15th Meridian East – Similarity in Difference (5 x 45’) where the landscapes are highly contrasting. From icy wastelands, to vast rainforests, to shimmering deserts and lush green pastures. People, animals and plants have had to adapt to the climate challenges, find solutions to daily challenges and adjust to the different regions. But one fact links them: their time zone. Observe the natives of these dynamic zones who live from their natural environs. Discover the challenges, dreams and hopes of the people living along this geographical nexus.

From all around the world to the centre of Europe: ensconced in the middle of Europe is the last great wilderness of the continent: The Bohemian Forest. Endless woodlands, enchanted moor lakes and clastic granite rocks create a picturesque landscape that can be found nowhere else on the continent. Located at the former border between the Western- and the Eastern Bloc within the border triangle of Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria, the region is home to visionaries who are willing to cross all borders to fight for its environmental legacy. The Bohemian Forest owes its uniqueness to its eventful history which beckoned folks near and far. We discover an amazing landscape and its inhabitants, their secrets and its natural treasures in Wilderness in Europe: The Bohemian Forest (2 x 45’)
