A group of young students travel to Nicaragua for 10 days to help to improve the living conditions in local villages. Nicaragua is one of the poorest developing countries in the world. With the construction of sanitary facilities the students want to support the local villagers. Once they arrive, they are confronted with hard physical labor and social contrasts.
Worldwide countless charities try to alleviate the suffering in the world. Many are linked to private businesses of the industry, other act as independent companies. Unlike these organisations Global Brigades forms seperate small brigades, as they call the small groups, which is an almost self-contained unit. Most of the students of the brigade only engage during university and most of them have no experience. The young idealists get the unique opportunity to connect their student life with social commitment. The students get an insight into foreign cultures and see where their donations arrive. We accompany German students on their adventure in a foreign world and see how they experience life in a new way.
